Published on January 18, 2026

The Women in Tech Colombia Chapter designed and delivered an Artificial Intelligence (AI) training program tailored specifically for women firefighters from multiple regions across Colombia. The initiative was developed with a strong gender-focused and inclusive approach, ensuring accessibility and relevance for participants from diverse territories.

Program Design & Delivery

The program followed a hybrid learning model, combining:

  • One in-person session, and

  • Three virtual training sessions,

This format enabled broader national participation while maintaining opportunities for direct engagement, collaboration, and practical learning.

Learning Focus

The training was structured to make Artificial Intelligence accessible, ethical, and practical, beginning with foundational concepts and progressing toward real-world applications relevant to the daily responsibilities of women firefighters. Key focus areas included:

  • Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence

  • Ethical and responsible use of AI

  • Decision-making support and information management

  • Communication enhancement through digital tools

  • Development of professional and personal skills linked to technology adoption

All content was intentionally contextualized to reflect the critical role women firefighters play in protecting and serving their communities, reinforcing the connection between technology and public service.

Empowerment & Leadership Impact

Beyond technical knowledge, the program emphasized confidence-building, technological ownership, and leadership development. Participants were encouraged to see themselves as active contributors to digital transformation within their institutions and local territories.

The training sessions also served as safe spaces for dialogue and shared learning, where participants exchanged experiences, reflected collectively, and recognized their lived expertise as a core part of the learning process.

Impact & Commitment

Through this initiative, the Women in Tech Colombia Chapter reinforces its commitment to:

  • Closing the gender gap in technology

  • Expanding access to digital knowledge in diverse and underrepresented communities

  • Creating inclusive, meaningful, and sustainable learning opportunities with real social impact

This program demonstrates how technology education, when designed inclusively, can strengthen both individual leadership and institutional capacity in critical public service sectors.
